With the mission of promoting the scientific research and training, the UNEP-Tongji Institute of Environment for Sustainable Development (IESD) was jointly established by UNEP and Tongji University on May 5, 2002. With ten years development, IESD has become the platform of education, research and international cooperation.
  As one of resolution on the 7th IESD Board Meeting in 2010, the International Student Conference on Environment and Sustainability (ISCES) has been held annually by UNEP and Tongji University since 2011. In the same year, the Beijing Green Future Environment Foundation has been established and it aims at encouraging young generations to devote themselves to environment protection and sustainable development. The foundation provides financial support of 600,000RMB (97,560USD) to the International Student Conference every year since 2012.
  During the 2nd ISCES in 2012, the Foundation has started the Seedling Program and Green Future Awards, in order to encourage students’ independent thinking and teamwork practice in the field of environment protection and sustainable development. The 2012 Seedling Program supported 10 selected teams of inventions or scientific research proposal with 30,000RMB (4878USD) each and Green Future Awards provided 10,000RMB (1626USD) each to 20 research reports on current and local environment issues.
  On June 5, the third ISCES held in Tongji University, Shanghai, selected teams for the scholarship of Seedling Program and reports for the scholarship of Green Future Awards have attended the awarding ceremony.
