UN Habitat’s experts and Tongji research team made field visits and investigation on zero net carbon town

     From 28 October to 3 November 2018, UN Habitat’s experts including Vincent Kitio from Urban Energy Unit of Urban Basic Services Branch, Helen Yu from Urban Planning and Design Lab, Prof. Federico Butera from Polytechnic University of Milan, and Mr. Fabio Montagnino from Consorzio Arca, as well the research team of Tongji University, has made field visits and investigation in Shanghai Research Academy of Environmental Science, Shanghai Research Institute of Building Science, Chongming Island, City of Zhoushan and Liyang, on zero net carbon town planning and construction. The project on Integrated technology and demonstration of Chongming zero net carbon town, supported by the Shanghai Science and Technology Commission, will be jointly implemented by Tongji University, UN Habitat, Shanghai Research Academy of Environmental Science and Shanghai Research Institute of Building Science. As one of the outcomes, the guideline on zero net carbon town is planned to be released during the UNEA-4 in March 2019.
