Workshop on Planning for Greener Cities and South-South Cooperation in Africa

 Objectives

This workshop aims to share China's novel experiences in the development of green cities with African countries so as to promote mutual cooperation and a learning platform in fields of Urban Planning, Environmental management and Infrastructure development

About the Programme

Courses and case studies will include United Nations Sustainable Cities Programme, Sustainable Cities Indicator System, Shanghai Urban Planning Cases, Urban Water Environment Management and Planning, Industrial Planning in Shanghai, Built Ecology and Green Building, Chongming Eco-island development as well as on-site visits to Shanghai Urban Planning Museum, Zhangjiang High Technology Park, Chongming Island, Yixing Environmental Protection Industrial Park, etc.

 

About the Workshop

Language of Instruction: English

Recruitment Target

Young professionals from African countries working in the field of Urban Planning, Environment, Agriculture, Land Planning, etc.

Qualification

1.  Trainees from developing countries particularly Africa, recommended by their respective ministries, local government or nationally recognized non-governmental organizations.

2.  No more than 45 years old (with a few exceptions), possessing a bachelor’s degree, it’s equivalent, or above;

3.  In good health, both physically and mentally, able to undergo the training with no complications;

4.  Good working knowledge of written and spoken English;

5.  Be familiar with the country's green city planning and environmental status and provide a report on sustainable development in the country

6.  Personnel who work or study in China will not be allowed to attend the workshop. Attendee’s family members’ expenses are not covered and thus will not be permitted to attend the workshop.

7.  Trainees must abide by the laws of the People’s Republic of China, and respect the manners and customs of Chinese people during their stay.

8.  Trainees must return to their respective countries at the end of the training workshop;

Fund Coverage

a)    The organizer is responsible for the training, accommodation, meals and local transportation during the trainees stay in China.

b)    International round-trip costs between the trainee’s country, training base and airport transfer fees are self funded . During the training period, the trainees shall be responsible for their domestic and international long-distance telephone charges, overweight baggage fees and domestic wages.
