Ma Jianguo, senior correspondent and Deputy Director of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Xinhua News Agency.

Graduated in 1990 from the Journalism Institute of Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, one of the most prestigious journalism schools in China, Mr. Ma served as correspondent for China Daily in early 1990s and then as editor and reporter for Xinhua, in Beijing, Nairobi and London for over 20 years.

As Deputy Director of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Xinhua News Agency, Mr. Ma has been one of the keen promoters and participants of Xinhua's cooperation with UN agencies.

Starting from 2009, 11 UN agencies including UNICEF, UNESCO, UNEP, UNDP, UNAIDS, UNFCCC, FAO, WFP and UNWTO, have signed MOUs with Xinhua, thanks to the fruitful coordination efforts by Mr. Ma and his team.

Mr. Ma has been one of the active participants and organizers of the UNEP-Tongji international students’ conference for three years in a row since 2014.
