Prof. ZHENG Guoguang is a holder of Ph.D Degree of Science, a senior research fellow, an advisor of PhD students. Prof. ZHENG graduated from Department of Atmospheric Sounding, Nanjing Institute of Meteorology (now renamed as Nanjing University of Information Science and Technology) and he received his Master’s Degree in Atmospheric Physics in 1984. He once served as Deputy Director of the Institute of Meteorological Sciences, and later Deputy Director of the Operational Meteorological Centre, Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Regional Meteorological Bureau, CMA.1990-1995: a visiting scientist at the University of Toronto, Canada, pursuing his PhD and post-doctoral studies; 1996: Assistant to Director and later Deputy Director of the Overall Strategic Planning and Research Office, CMA; 1997: Deputy Director General of Fujian Provincial Meteorological Bureau; 1998: Director General of Department of Observations and Telecommunication; 1999-2006: Deputy Administrator of CMA and a member of the CPC Leading Group, CMA. 2007-2016.12 Administrator of China Meteorological Administration (CMA) and Secretary of the CPC Leading Group of CMA. 2016.12- present Administrator of China Earthquake Administration (CEA) and Secretary of the CPC Leading Group of CEA Presently, Administrator ZHENG holds concurrent posts of Deputy Director-General of the Chinese Meteorological Society, Chairman of the National Climate Committee, Chairman of the Chinese Committee of the Global Climate Observing System (GCOS), Deputy Director of the Working Group of National Coping with Climate Change and Energy-saving and Emission-reduction and Deputy Director of the Leading Group Office of Coping with Climate Change, Part-time Professor of Peking University, Part-time Professor of Nanjing University of Information Science & Technology, permanent representative of China to World Meteorological Organization (WMO), a member of the Executive Council of WMO, and Co-Chair of the Group on Earth Observation (GEO). |
