In 2012 International Student Conference on Environment and SustainabilityISCES,BEFYT initiated the Seedling Program and Green Future Awards, in order to encourage students’ independent thinking and teamwork practice in the field of environment protection and sustainable development. The Seedling Program supports around 10 selected teams of inventions or scientific research proposal annually with 30,000RMB (4878USD) each and Green Future Awards provides 10,000RMB (1626USD) each to 20 research reports or assessment on environment issues each year.

The first Seeding Program received 167 applications from 47 universities across the country. 12 teams got the support and 10 teams got chance to attend the winter holiday camp on environment survey held in Beijing. Meanwhile, the first Green Future received 61 applications from 30 universities, with 20 research reports rewarded. The members of scholarship evaluation committee are experts in related fields from the Chinese Academy of Environmental Science, Ministry of Environment Protection, Tongji University, South China University of Science and Technology, Fudan University, Tsinghua University and Chongqing University.

On June 5 2013, the third ISCES held in Tongji University, Shanghai, selected excellent teams and students from 2012 Seedling Program and 2013 Green Future Awards attended the awarding ceremony and presented the awards by Prof. Wang Guangtao.

For 2013 Seeding Program, 15 teams got the scholarship funding support with their outstanding program design in 82 proposals from 17 universities. We have received 93 applications from 47 universities for 2014 Green Future Awards, and the evaluation is under way. The list of 2014 Green Future Awards and the excellent research proposals from 2013 Seedling Program will be released on the 4th ISCES which is going to be held in Tongji from 5-10June 2014.

From the applications and results of Seeding Program and Green Future Awards, we can see that our foundation has increased its influence in universities, inspired students’ innovation of environment protection and sustainable development and motivation to practice and do social research.
