Call for nomination of reviewers for GEO-7


UNEP is seeking external reviewers to provide feedback, including identifying any issues, data, or information to be included in the Global Environment Outlook (GEO-7) Second-Order Draft (SOD) report and for the Summary for Policymakers (SPM) First-Order Draft (FOD) of the Summary for Policy Makers (SPM).

The application can be done through the application portal by 30 September 2024.


About the GEO-7



The Global Environment Outlook (GEO) is the flagship report of UNEP, providing an integrated assessment of the drivers of environmental change, the current state of the environment, the effectiveness of policy responses and the options for achieving different possible futures in the medium to long term.

The seventh edition of the Global Environment Outlook (GEO-7) assessment and its accompanying Summary for Policymakers will be launched at UNEA-7 in December 2025. The GEO-7 SOD and FOD SPM peer review period is currently planned for 01 November 2024 -15 January 2025.


Since 2017, Tongji University has been involved in the Global Environmental Outlook as the report author, and Prof. Ying Wang, Vice Dean of the College of Environmental Science and Engineering, UNEP-Tongji Insititute of Environment for Sustainable Development, currently serves as the Global Vice Chairwoman of the Report from 2022. Together with Dr. Nyovani Madise, Director of Development Policy and Head of AFIDEP Malawi office, Sir Robert Watson,IPBES Chair, and Dr. Edgar Gutierrez-Espeleta,

University of Costa Rica

, the board of chairs is responsible for the determining the objectives, functions, design standards and processes of GEO; establishing the governance and implementation structure of GEO, and planning the governance and implementation structure to develop corresponding procedures, evaluate and address capacity, knowledge and policy needs.
