International Student Conference on Environment
and Sustainability (ISCES)

The International Student Conference on Environment and Sustainability (ISCES) is jointly hosted and supported by United Nations Environment Programme, Tongji University, Beijing Environment Foundation for Young Talents and Xinhua News Agency since 2011. The conference aims to provide the platform for discussion upon major environmental problems for youth talents from different countries and contribute to sustainable development of human society. ISCES has been successfully held for nine years by the end of 2019, attracting about 2700 students from more than 50 countries in the world and making great contributions to the spread of practices and concepts of environment and sustainability. It has become one of the most influential youth summit on environment and sustainable development in the world.

INTERNATIONAL DEGREE

The programme is designed to foster high-end business officials and managerial personnel for the recipient countries, offering a two-year master programs for the purpose of educating high-end and inter-disciplinary talent working in the applied fields of government, trade, foreign affairs, agriculture, technology, education, culture and health, building intellectual capacity and facilitating the economic and social development of the recipient countries.

Green Future Environmental Foundation

The Beijing Green Future Environmental Foundation was initiated in 2011 by Prof. WANG Guangtao, Minister of Housing and Urban-Rural Development of China (2001-2008) and Chairman of Environmental and Resources Protection Committee of the 11th National People's Congress. During the 2012 International Student Conference on Environment and Sustainability (ISCES), the Foundation announced the Green Seedling Program to provide seed fund to students with innovative project proposals in the field of environment protection and sustainable development, with a focus on urban environment, education for sustainable development, and sustainable transportation.

Education for Sustainable Development

截止2019年,IESD已围绕可持续发展在本科生与研究生中开设大量创新实践,约余7000名学生选修了全校通识课、跨院系选修课、本科生辅修和微专业以及研究生可持续发展辅修专业。放眼未来,学院将进一步推动个人素质的全方位提升、可持续发展理念的不断强化,为同济大学在全球可持续发展高等教育领域的实践探索,助推“三全育人”综合改革试点的切实发展做出贡献。
