The 2025 Global Environment Solutions Challenge (GESC), centered on the theme Solutions to Plastic Pollution, has garnered enthusiastic participation since its launch on February 28. By the registration deadline on April 28, the competition has attracted 621 students from 138 teams across 121 universities in 71 countries and regions. The awards ceremony will be held at the 2025 International Student Conference on Environment and Sustainability, where winners of the Global Environment Solutions Challenge Award and the Most Popular Team Award will be announced. 

   Key Dates 

May 6, 2025: The organizing committee will announce the list of teams advancing to the semifinals. Qualified teams must confirm their ability to participate offline (with at least one team representative) via email. Teams unable to attend in person will forfeit their eligibility. 

May 9, 2025: The final list of semifinalists for offline participation will be published on the IESD official website, and voting for the Most Popular Team Award will commence. 

June 6, 2025: Semifinalists will compete offline. A panel of internal and external experts will evaluate submissions and presentations to determine the finalists. 

June 7, 2025: Final awards ceremony.
