During August 14-27, IESD and the Research Center Juelich of Germany held a summer school for the students from China, Africa and Germany. These students focused their study and research on environmental disciplines. The IESD student team comprised of 13 Chinese students and one African student. The students attended a series of lectures, which covers a wide range of topics, from water, sludge, soil, plants to gas and climates.

The team visited the Research Center Juelich, the company Bayer AG, the Brown Coal Open Cast Pit in Hambach, the Eifel National Park, and some metropolis, such as Cologne and Anchen. The students had communicated with both the scientists and the engineers as well.

With the cooperation with the Research Center Juelich of Germany, the Summer School will be held in IESD in 2007 and in Africa in 2008, as a platform for the students to broaden their view and get latest information on environmental and sustainable development issues.
