In 2006, the Asia-Pacific Regional University Consortium (RUC) meetings were held twice, the third meeting in April at Griffith University, Australia and the fourth in September at IESD.

RUC was instrumental in the preparation and implementation of the Leadership Programme and the International Master’s Program. RUC highly praised the supports from its member institutions and UNEP Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific. Mutual benefits of IESD and RUC under the guidance of UNEP ROAP were considered as a critical factor of the success of IESD. To enhance the involvement of RUC member universities, the first colloquium on RUC research activities was held on September 17, when Tongji and RUC professors and researchers exchanged their research interests and progress of their respective projects. More RUC-wide research is envisioned.  The First RUC Research Colloquium was also held.
