In order to encourage and enhance the communication of young scientists from both developing and developed countries, Prof. Dr. Gang Wan (President of Tongji University, Shanghai, P. R. China) and Prof. Dr. Joachim Treusch (The Chairman of Jülich Center, Jülich, Germany and President of International University Bremen now) initiated a three-year Summer School (2006-2008) in 2005.

The First Summer School was held at Jülich Center in Germany successfully from 14 - 27 August 2006. Now,The 2nd Summer School on Water Resource Management (WRM) will be held at Tongji University, Shanghai, P. R. China from August 19 - August 29, 2007. The school has 6 days of lectures and 4 days of investigation . The lectures will focus on current issues in water surroundings over the world, especially related to the sustainable management of Yangtze River in China.
