On April 22, the opening ceremony of Leadership Program on Sustainable Development: Environment, Energy and Sustainable Development (the former HSBC-IESD Leadership Program on Sustainable Development) had been held in Tongji. The programme is co-organized by Center of Environment Education and Communication of SEPA, UNEP-Tongji Institute of Environment for Sustainable Development for Sustainable Development (IESD) and HSBC, China. Prof. Wang Gang, the president of Tongji University, Prof. Zhao Jianfu, the dean of IESD, Mr. Yorke, the CEO of HSBC China had attended the opening ceremony.

Dr. Toepfer Clause, the former General Director of UNEP emphasized the importance of saving energy and exploring new energy by analysis the situation of Climate Change and the Carbon Exhausting in the world.

Prof. Prof. Niu, Wenyuan who is the Academician of CAS and Counselor of the State Council, P. R. China  shared his opinions of energy and sustainable based on his research and study of sustainable development in China.
More than 300 audiences joined in the communication with the two outstanding keynote speaker whom included the 27 local officials all around China.
