On the afternoon of March 6, Prof. Hilonoli Hamanaka, the chairman of Institute for Global Environment Strategies (IGES) of Japan, and Dr. Meeyoung Choi, the project manager of the Ministry of Construction and Education made a visit to Tongji University.
Prof. Yongsheng Li, Executive Vice-President of Tongji University and Fengting Li, vice dean of College of Environmental Science and Engineering (CESE) attended the meeting and exchanged the opinions about green campus construction and master programme on carbon emission reduction in Japan. Subsequently, Prof. Hamanaka and Dr. Choi made a further visit to CESE and UNEP-Tongji Institute of Environment for Sustainable Development (IESD). And Fengting Li and other professors in CESE and IESD had a further discussion on the possible cooperation areas such as climate change, environmental education and sustainable development.
IGES was established in 1998 and it is committed to the research of Asia-Pacific region environment strategies, which has extensive experience on the research of environment strategies and is a well-known research institution in the field of climate change. The future cooperation of both sides will improve the scientific research strength for Tongji University in the field of climate change, environmental education and sustainable development.
