The 2nd Eco-Chongming Forum, with the theme of “Low Carbon Development”,hosted by the Shanghai Science and Technology Commission and Shanghai Municipal People’s Government of Chongming County, was held at United Nations Pavilion on July 5th, 2010. The forum was co-organized by Tongji University, Fudan University etc., and won support from United Nations Environment Programme.
The conference following the opening ceremony was co-chaired by Dr. Klaus Toepfer, Honorable Professor of UNEP-Tongji IESD, Former United Nations Under-Secretary General and Former Executive Director of
UNEP, and Prof. Zhao Jianfu, Former Vice President of Tongji University and Former Dean of the IESD. 29 distinguished experts and scholars including Klaus Toepfer delivered keynote addresses.

During the forum, the Shanghai Science and Technology Commission signed a declaration with UNEP to promote the international cooperation of the construction of Chongming Island. UNEP-Tongji IESD continued to play an important role in establishing promising partnership between UNEP and other institutions and organizations.
