On Dec.3rd, 2010, Ph.D. Yan XU, the Senior Research Program Manager from Microsoft Research, visited UNEP-Tongji IESD. She gave a lecture in how to advance the norms of environmental eScience in Zonghe Building in the afternoon. Nearly 50 teachers and students attended it.

　　The lecture introduced the combination of computational science and environmental science, for improving the rate of data collection and disposal to solve environmental issues. Ph.D. XU highlighted the idea that one can be a “better scientist, just knowing how to take advantage of the technology”. She also showed the current achievement of an open software and communicated with the active audience, which caused enthusiastic repercussions. After her lecture, Prof. Dahe JIANG of the Environmental College also expressed his own experience of this topical field. The lecture achieved the complete success.
