The 4th World Student Environmental Summit

The 4th World Student Environmental Summit was held at Blekinge Institute of Technology (BTH), Karlskrona, Sweden from May 16, 2011 to May 23, 2011. Two students from the College of Environmental Science and Engineering, Tongji University, YAO Linglan and MA Jinxing, took part in the summit with the support from UNEP-Tongji IESD.
The summit lasted for 3 days, with the theme of “Conserve”, “Create”, and “Collaborate” respectively. It invited nearly 80 delegated from all around the world. 9 speakers from the best in the fields of urban planning, social innovation, sustainability, education and business development gave the workshops and challenged the delegates with different tasks.
The summit also organized plenary penal, trip to eco-farm, live green festival, and other activities. The delegates had heated discussions, sharing knowledge and opinions about sustainability. The abundant contents and various forms were welcomed and appreciated by all the delegates. Our two delegates introduced the practices of Tongji University towards sustainable development, mainly focused on the energy-saving buildings and recycling system of bath waste water inside the campus. The endeavor and achievement Tongji has done won the great appreciating from other delegates.
As the result of the 4th WESE, co-chairs will present an integrated proposal based on all the ideas from delegates.
