On 24th May 2011, Chancellor of Waikato University Rt Hon Jim Bolger, former Prime Minister of New Zealand, and Vice Chancellor Prof Roy Crawford and some other directors of college in the Waikato University visited to Tongji University.

In that afternoon, Rt Hon Jim Bolger gave a lecture titled “Environmental and Sustainable Development in New Zealand and the Waikato Focus” in Zonghe Building. This lecture on sustainability was given from view from population, unbanization, climate change, energy and policy, etc. Prof Zhou Qi, Dean of College of Environmental Science and Engineering, gave the welcoming speech and Prof Li Fengting, Vice Dean, hosted this event.

Prof Chen Xiaolong, Vice President of Tongji University, welcome the delegation in Yifu Building. Both university introduced and exchanged respective University’s academic background and researching results and agreed to a discussion on further cooperation. Prof Li Guangming from Technology Department also attended this meeting.

On the morning of 25th May, the delegation from Waikato University came to College of Environmental Science and Engineering and they were welcomed by Prof Li Guangming from Technology Department, Prof Li Fengting, Vice Dean of the college. Both parts discussed academic exchange and research on urban planning, eco-city, material science, etc., and agreed to strengthen cooperation between two university with the support of MOST.
