“Water Resources and Water Treatment” Training Program for African Students

The Training Program of Water Resources and Water Treatment for African Students was held at Zonghe Building 902, Tongji Unversity, Shanghai, China on June 5, 2011 (World Environment Day), which was organized by UNEP-Tongji Institute of Environment for Sustainable Development (IESD). This training course, as one of the major activities for “2011 International Student Conference on Environment and Sustainability”, attracted students from more than 10 countries of African participants. Dr. WANG Hongtao and LIU Dan presented two reports of “Sino-Africa cooperation in water and wastewater treatment” and “Water treatment technologies in China” respectively, which drew much attention and interest from African participants. Moreover, the keynote topic on “What should we do to conserve water resources and to protect water environment?” was discussed passionately . This training program was supported by African Water Action Proposal of Ministry of Science and Technology of China, which will further promote the Sino-African cooperation in environment and water resources conservation.
