On the afternoon of July 20th, 2011, the Seminar on Development Strategy of UNEP-Tongji IESD was held in Rm. 902, Zonghe Building of Tongji University. Prof. LI Fengting, Vice Dean of IESD delivered the opening address. Prof. WU Jiang, Vice President of Tongji University, Dean of IESD made a wrap-up report of the first-half year towards research, education and training, and proposed the general work plan of the second-half year.

Prof. WANG Guangtao, Chairman of Environment Protection and Resources Conservation Committee of National People's Congress of China, Chairman of the Advisory Board of IESD, highly appreciated the magnificent outcomes of 2011 International Student Conference on Environment and Sustainability and highlighted the great importance of establishing a flexible and effective mechanism.

As the initiative of the Conference, IESD should take this event to enlarge its global impact and provide an open platform for young students, who are the future managers, policy makers, scientists and actionists, to discuss the recent hot topics, the latest technologies and creative ideas on environment and sustainable development.

Prof. ZHOU Qi, Dean of the College of Environmental Science and Engineering, Prof. ZHU Dajian, Prof. ZHAO Jianfu, Prof. DAI Xiaohu, Prof. JIANG Dahe and Prof. ZHANG Zitai attended the meeting and pooled their wisdom for the development strategy of IESD, the organizational mechanism of the upcoming international student conference and its connection to the Rio+20 conference, etc.
