The Workshop on Suzhou Ecological Civilization and Sustainable Development jointly organized by Suzhou Municipal Party School and UNEP-Tongji Institute of Environment and Sustainable Development (IESD) was held from September 25 to 28 at Tongji University. The Workshop invited many famous experts and scholars in the field of environment and sustainable development, including Prof. Niu Wenyuan, the State Council Counselor, Professor Ye Wenhu, Director of China Sustainable Development Research Center in Peking University, Prof. Lv Shihai, Researcher of China Environmental Science Research Institute, and some other professors of Tongji University to give a four-day training to 45 government leaders and officials from 5 county-level cities and 7 municipal districts of Suzhou.
This workshop highlighted the study of frontier experience and trend of current ecological civilization and sustainable development. In addition, the participants analyzed the strategies of accelerating ecological civilization and discussed the countermeasures upon sustainable development of Suzhou. With diversified forms of training, including lecture, group discussion and field trip, the workshop received universal approval among the participants.
