United Nations Delegation Visiting Tongji University

On April 12, Academician Pei Gang, President of Tongji University visited the representatives from United Nations (UN). There are eight representatives, including Prof. Nay Htun from UNY Stony Brook University, the former Asian-Pacific Directors of UNDP and UNEP, and Assistant Secretary-General, Mr, Yannick Glemarec, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Executive Coordinator and Director of Environment Finance, Mr. Surendra Shrestha, Former Regional Director Asia Pacific UNEP / UNDESA Team Leader for RIO+20. In addition, President Pei Gang, Prof. Wu Jiang, Vice President of Tongji University, Dean of UNEP-Tongji Institute of Environment for Sustainable Development (IESD), and Prof. Li Fengting, Vice Dean of UNEP-Tongji IESD met with the visiting team and held a warm forum.

The forum is to scope out the potential establishment of the Shanghai International Eco-Innovation Facility (SIEIF). The SIEIF is envisaged to be a Private Sector-Public Sector-University- International Organization Partnership. Both teams listened to each other’s conversation and actively expressed their views. After the meeting, President Pei Gang presented souvenirs to the delegation and took photos.
