UNEP Executive Director Achim Steiner and Vice President of Tongji University Wu Jiang, today launched the Chinese version of UNEP's Report "Towards a Green Economy: Pathways to Sustainable Development and Poverty Eradication" at an event at the Sheraton Hotel in Rio, Brazil.
The English version was launched by Mr Achim Steiner in Beijing in November 2011. Since then Tongji University has mobilized a multidesciplinary team of distingusihed experts in China to translate the various chapters. Professor Li Fengting of Tongji University played a leadership role in managing and completing the translation of a 600-page strong report in a short span of time. The report shows that if the world shifts its investment from business-as-usual to green activities across major economic sectors, we can not only improve the environment, but also bring about greater income and jobs, improved access to clean energy, safe water, and basic sanitation, and better health for all.
The Chinese version of the report is expected to communicate UNEP's Green Economy findings to Chinese readers worldwide
