Vice President Wu Jiang Participates in “Tbilisi+35: Intergovernmental Conferenc...

Invited by the Ministry of Environment Protection of Georgia and UNEP, Prof. Wu Jiang, Vice President of Tongji University and Chairman of Global University Partnership on Environment and Sustainability (GUPES), attended “Tbilisi+35: Intergovernmental Conference on Environmental Education for Sustainable Development” which was held in Tbilisi, the capital of Georgia on September 6th and 7th. With the theme of educate today for a sustainable future, Tbilisi +35 attracted more than 60 Ministers and Vice Ministers and other high-level delegates from 98 countries to commemorate the 1977 Tbilisi Declaration.

 

As the Chairman of GUPES, Prof. Wu Jiang participated in the Expert Group Meeting on Sept. 4th and 5th. At the meeting, worlds leading professionals in the environmental education and education for sustainable development, representatives from the partner organizations discussed and finalized the zero draft of the Tbilisi Communiqué, which would be submitted to the Conference for adoption on Sept. 7. In addition to contributing into modifications of the Communiqué, Prof. Wu Jiang shared the experiences and good practices of Tongji University on the way to a sustainable university.
