The 1st Academia Interdisciplinary Salon was held by UNEP-Tongji Institute of Environment for Sustainable Development in Zonghe Building on October 31, 2012. The speakers were Prof. Wang Qigang from Department of Chemistry and Prof. Pu Hongting from School of Materials Science and Engineering. Prof. Wang gave an address about “preparation and Application of Soft Matter Gel Material” and have heated discussion with participates. The topic of Prof. Pu’s speech was “The Application of Nanotechnology in Fuel Cell Materials”, and he also expressed his expectation for interdisciplinary collaboration.

Professors and students in various majors are invited to the salon. During two speeches, participants talked among various disciplinary perspectives in the seek of the in-depth cooperation in related fields.

The Interdisciplinary Academic Salon will be held every Wednesday from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Two invited professors standing out of their fields will make interdisciplinary speeches to provide valuable topics for discussion and potential cooperation.
