Regional Environmental and Sustainable Development Certificate Program, RESD was a Phd students summer vocation exchange program, launched and hosted by seven famous universities in China, Japan and Korea. This program aims at organizing environmental departments’ education resource in three countries and offering an excellent platform for developing innovative talents in environmental fields. 2012 RESD program was set up on July 1 and last for three weeks with the theme of environmental disaster. 9 Phd students from Tongji University, Tsinghua University, Kyoto University, Tohuku University, Tokyo University, KAIST and POSTECH took part in this program. The agenda for this year is Tokyo University, Tohuku University, KAIST, POSTECH, and Tsinghua University.
During the program, the students attended lectures by famous professors. The contents of lectures involve air pollution control technique, wastewater treatment technique, waste solid treatment technique, earthquake disaster protective measure. Also they visited the wastewater treatment plants in Japan, Korea, and Beijing and some steel plants. They visited the disaster area after the 3.11 earthquake and tsunami. They had a overall and deep understanding of regional environmental issues and sustainable development in China, Japan, and Korea. They had a broader international horizon of realizing and analyzing environmental issues and experienced ideas and attitudes from different countries.
