The academic forum—Green Economy and Climate Policy, was held successfully in Tongji University on Nov.6,2012. The forum was hosted by the German Consulate General in Shanghai and the UNEP-Tongji Institute of Environment for Sustainable Development (IESD) and was given by Dr. Hans-Joachim Ziesing. Dr. Hans-Joachim Ziesing is the senior policy advisor of the Institute Ecologic of Berlin. His specific interests include analyses, forecasts and scenarios concerning the energy field, economics of specific energy systems with emphasis on renewable energies and combined heat and power systems, interdependency between economy, energy and environment, analyses of the environmental impacts of different energy strategies, recommendations in the field of energy and environmental policies, climate protection policies, and emissions trading.
Dr. Hans-Joachim Ziesing gave the speech of “green economy and climate policy” in three aspects: the remarks on it, the EU’s way to handle it, Germany’s energy transition. And at last, he draw some conclusions. Green Economy can’t be gotten only by the market itself. Carbon pricing and emissions trading are essential for the Green Economy. Climate protection is one of the most significant drivers of Green Economy, and so on.
After the introduction of the Green Economy and Climate Policy, Dr. Hans-Joachim Ziesing fell into a deep discussion with the students attending the forum. The students raised many questions, “Whether China can use the wind power like Germany”? “We should take policy priority or technology priority during the process of Green Economy”? “Barriers the developing countries will meet during developing the Green Economy” , and so on. Dr. Hans-Joachim Ziesing gave his opinions on these questions positively.
At last, the students showed the heartfelt thanks to Dr. Hans-Joachim Ziesing, and the forum ended successfully.
