On 21st-25th January, 2013, Co-hosted by Beijing Green Future Environmental Foundation and IESD, 11 students from Tongji University, Zhajiang University, Renming University of China, Chongqing University, Beijing Normal University, Tianjin University,China University of Geoscience, Southwest Jiaotong University, South China University of Technology, Harbin Institute of Technology, Northwestern Polytechnical University, participated in the first field trip of Seedling Program. In the five days trip, students have paid visits to the Beijing Municipal Environmental Protection Bureau, Chinese Research Academy of Environmental Sciences, Beixiaohe Sewage Treatment Plant, and Beijing Olympic Park and Olympic Village, and communicated with relevant researchers and staff. They also attended lectures on wastewater treatment, heavy eutrophication of lakes, construction of Eco-Industrial Park, and exchanged their ideas and questions with the experts of certain field. Mr. LIU Changxing, Secretary General of Beijing Green Future Environmental Foundation, Mr. XIAO Xiaojun, Coordinator of the program, Mr. WANG Xin, Vice Dean of IESD and Ms. JIA Qian, Program Coordinator, organized and participated in the whole trip.

On January 24, Prof. WANG Guangtao, Chairman of Environment and Resource Protection Committee of National People’s Congress of China met the students and asked them about their feedback on the trip. Prof. WANG Guangtao was happy to know that all students have learned a lot from this trip. He also listened students’ opinions and suggestions on the program and proposed his wish and requirements on the future development of all the students.
