On 10th April, Dr. Young-woo Park, UNEP Regional Director and Representative for Asia and the Pacific visited Tongji University. Prof. Qi DONG, Vice President of Tongji University, hosted the bilateral meeting. Mr. Shigang ZHANG, Director of UNEP China Office, Mr. Shaofeng HU, Regional Network Coordinator of Compliance Assistance Programme of ROAP/UNEP, Ms. Zhengzheng QU, UNEP China Office Program Assistant, Prof. Fengting LI and Dr. Xin WANG, Vice Dean of UNEP-Tongji Institute of Environment for Sustainable Development (IESD), Prof. Hongwei TAN, Director of Research Center of Green Building and New Energy and staff from Tongji International Office and IESD attended this meeting.

Prof. Qi DONG warmly welcomed the visit of Dr. Young-woo Park and expressed gratitude to UNEP Regional Office for Asia and the Pacific (ROAP) for its consistent support for the mutual cooperation. Prof. DONG reaffirmed the important role of UNEP ROAP and UNEP China Office for Tongji’s international cooperation, especially in the field of environment and sustainable development. Meanwhile, Prof. DONG extended thanks to Dr. Young-woo Park for being the Vice Dean of IESD and guiding the development of IESD by sharing his knowledge, experience and wisdom.

Dr. Young-woo Park highly praised on Tongji’s achievements in promoting the concept of sustainable development, especially the great efforts in building the Sustainable University by diversified means, such as setting up the general SD course for the students, building the research center of green building and new energy, holding the annual international student conference on environment and sustainability, etc.

After the meeting, with accompany of Prof. Fengting LI and Dr. Xin WANG, Dr. Young-woo Park visited the College of Environmental Science and Engineering and Architectural Design and Research Institute. During the lunch time, Dr. Young-woo Park had a meeting with IESD Chair Professors, Prof. Xiaohu DAI, Dean of the College of Environmental Science and Engineering, Prof. Xiaohua TONG, Dean of the School of Surveying and GIS, Prof. Hongwei TAN, Director of Research Center of Green Building & new Energy, Prof. Qingsong RUAN, Vice Dean of School of Economics and Management.
