Prof. LI Fengting was the Executive Deputy Dean of UNEP-Tongji Institute of Environment for Sustainable Development, and Vice Dean of College of Environmental Science and Engineering,Tongji University from June 2014 to December 2021. Prof. Li joined Tongji University in 1997. In his position, he has been instrumental in formulating, developing and implementing international education at Tongji University and spreading UNEP’s strategy in Asia-Pacific region and Africa. In recent years, Prof. Li has led multi-disciplinary teams in the areas of education, policy research and facilitated South-South cooperation.

In the past years, he played a key role in developing international education and expanding the relationship with UNEP, central government ministries and intentional organizations. He also presided over several national and regional training programs and contributed to the establishment of a network for environmental information.

Before joining Tongji University, Prof. Li earned a Bachelor degree of applied chemistry from Beijing Institute of Technology (1986), a Master degree from Shandong Polytechnic University (1989), and a Doctoral degree from Nanjing University (1997), China.  He worked as a postdoctoral researcher in University of Georgia, USA from 2010-2011 and was a visiting professor at Free University of Berlin, Germany, in 2012.

Prof. Li is an expert in applying theories into practices, especially in the field of water treatment, where he established a wide-range connection with the industry. He owns more than 30 patents, among which many have been applied at home and aboard. Over 30 companies in China are using his technology and its products have been uesed in more than 40 countries.

Prof. Li hasHosted more than 30 research projects (research funds up to 6 million US$) at national and provincial level since 2005 Owned over 30 patents

Published more than 100 papers on international journals, over 100 papers on Chinese journals and more than 50 papers for Chinese and international conferences
