Wang Zhijia，worked as a senior staff member of United Nations Environment Programme from April 2003 to March 2014. He has been involved with UNEP activities in China such as Beijing Olympics in 2008 and the Shanghai EXPO in 2010 and the UNEP-China-Africa Environment Cooperation Programme.

Before joining UNEP, Mr. Zhijia Wang served as Director General of International Cooperation Department, State Environmental Protection Administration of China (SEPA), where he served from 1996 to 2003. His professional career was started in 1976 when he worked as external affairs officer at the Office of Environmental Protection Leading Group under the State Council of China; Worked as diplomat at the Chinese Mission to UNEP from 1978 to 1983; then worked at environmental protection department of the national government from 1983 until he became the Director General of the Department in 1996.
