Prof. Xiaohong CHEN, doctorial supervisor and vice dean of College of Postgraduate and School of Traffic and Transportation Engineering in Tongji University. She graduated from Shanghai Jiaotong University with a bachelor degree in 1987. Now she is the director of Highway Planning Society of China Highway Society, vice chairman of Public Transportation of Academic Committee in Shanghai Institute of Traffic Engineering.
Prof. CHEN has been engaged in research of urban transportation planning, regional highway network planning, traffic demand and traffic flow simulation model, public transport planning, management and public transport information system.
Prof. CHEN hosted the research of metropolitan highway network planning and applications in the surrounding area and updated the highway planning concepts and method, which has been awarded the third prize of Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award in 2001. She also hosted the research of development in Shanghai public transport travel information inquiry system which has been awarded the third prize of Shanghai Science and Technology Progress Award in 2000. In recent years, she takes charge of several researches, including Shanghai highway network planning, Shanghai trunk road network planning, Shanghai urban and rural road network planning, the twenty-first century sustainable development of Tianjin Highway network planning, Shanghai Chongming channel traffic study, Zhongshan City transportation Planning, Shanghai City road system planning, convergence of rail and public transportation, Shanghai motor vehicle development and implementation of pollution prevention during the Tenth Five-Year Plan, Shanghai air quality management strategy and support system and so on.
Prof. CHEN has published more than 20 papers, mainly including “prediction of highway network flow and phased construction”, “The research of core issue of highway planning”, “road network planning based on target - evaluation methods”, “Shanghai’s Highway Planning with Adjustment of Metropolitan and Layout and function-Planning Systematically and Overall Process Management” etc..
