Professor and Deputy Dean, School of Political Science and International Relations of Tongji University, Shanghai. Professor Qiu graduated from Fudan University and received his Ph.D. in World History in 1996. Dr. Qiu is recipient of many grants and awards, including the National Social Science Foundation Research Grant and the Fulbright Senior Research Fellow Award, Shanghai Pujiang Special Talent Grant, Shanghai Social Science Foundation Research Grant, and China Scholarship Council Senior Research Fellow Grant, et al. Dr. Qiu is a council member of the Council of China National Association for International Studies, permanent member of the Council of China National Association of Universities for International Studies, permanent member of the Council of Shanghai Association of International Studies.
Dr. Qiu received “Sino-American Economic Relations Studies” Award and “Early Sino-American Relations Studies” Award in 2004 and 2006 respectively. He published four books and more than seventy academic articles both in Chinese and English.
Dr. Qiu was a senior Fulbright visiting scholar at State University of New York from 2006 to 2007. He was also serving as a senior research fellow at SAIS, the Johns Hopkins University in Washington D.C. from September 2009 to February 2010, and a senior visiting fellow at University of Chicago’s department of political science from March 2010 to September 2010. Professor Qiu is also an alumnus of Asia-Pacific Center for Security Studies of the United States.
