Tongji Signed MoU with the German Industry & Commerce Greater China

 On January 14, 2014, the UNEP-Tongji Institute of Environment for Sustainable Development (IESD) of Tongji University signed a Memorandum of Understanding with econet china | German Industry & Commerce Greater China (GIC). Prof. Wu Jiang, the Vice President of Tongji University and Dean of IESD, Prof. Li Fengting, Vice Dean of IESD, Dr. Wang Xin, Vice Dean of IESD, attended the signing ceremony. Prof. Wu Jiang and Mr. Christoph Angerbauer, General Manager of GIC and Deputy Representative of the Delegation of German Industry and Commerce signed the MoU on behalf of the two parties.

On the basis of equality and mutual benefit, both sides reached the consensus to undertake collaboration with a focus on industry-education-research integration in the filed of sustainable development. By utilizing the international platform IESD, the cooperation will promote the exchange of information and technological innovation among the Sino-German partners, and further strengthen the role of sustainable development and ecological concept in the development of a corporation. The two sides also explored a number of specific themes for cooperation, such as hosting symposium/training on sustainable development; participation of German companies in the annual International Student Conference on Environment and Sustainability (ISCES) co-hosted by UNEP and Tongji University; setting up professorship in Tongji University by GIC, student internship programs in partner companies of GIC, among others. The parties have achieved common understanding and agreement on the cooperation and further follow-ups will be carried out by designated contact persons in each party.

To build a world-class sustainability-oriented university has always been for the vision of Tongji University.  Through close cooperation with GIC, we look forward to bringing in the most forefront and practical technical experiences to the campus, promoting interaction with enterprises so as to contribute to the development of sustainable campus.
