Published:31/03/2014

From 21-23 March 2014, four IESD students attended the prestigious Konrad Adenauer Stiftung (KAS) Model United Nations(MUN) titled, The World Goes to Town, in Xiamen, China. Simulating the Opening Working Group on Sustainable Development Goals, the main objective of the meeting was to formulate a Sustainable Urbanisation Goal to be integrated in the forthcoming SDG proposal for the 69th session of the UN General Assembly in September 2014, for the Post-2015 Global Development Agenda.

Chinese and international students from top universities in China represented eleven countries and four international organizations. The IESD students were Chun Dan, Kennedly Liti Mbeva, Asenath Akoth and Yasmine Chraibi.

The IESD students made an impressive performance, with Kennedy Liti Mbeva winning the Best Delegate award. Their impressive performance is an indication of the rigour of sustainable development studies at IESD.
