OnJune 10th, 2014, the closing ceremony of the 2014 International Conference on Environmentand Sustainable Development was held in conjunction by the United Nationsenvironment programme (UNEP) and Tongji University. The ceremony was held inMingJing building’s conference room 121. Nearly 300 young students from over 47countries from around the world attended the ceremony.

The conference was centeredaround the broad topic of environmental sustainability, with the focus on fourcentral themes: Education for sustainable development, food and health, ecosystemand climate change, and green development. For a week, participants discussedand shared their thoughts on these subjects. These discussion sessions enabledthe students to come to some interesting conclusions and valuable lessons withregard to environmental sustainability.

Subsequently,participants came to attend the award ceremony for poster design at MingJing building.The Vice President of Tongji University Prof. Wu Jiang and the Chairman ofCouncil from the College of Environmental Science and Engineering awarded the"best posters award" and "best videos award" to the recipientof this year.
   Finally, representatives from each ofthe four discussion groups came up with the “Global Youth Tongji Declaration”.They declared that participants would continue to promote advocacy on differentenvironmental, social andclimate change issues at local, regional, national and international level;practise low carbon activities at the individual level to reduce our carbonfootprint; and to be involved actively in raising awareness and education onsustainable development in local community by propagating the concept of ESD.This brought an end to the International Student Conference 2014.
