Prof. Li Fengting Visited Sudan National Centre for Research

Oct. 2014, Khartoum, Prof. Li Fengting, Deputy Dean UNEP-Tongji Institute of Environment for Sustainable Development (IESD), and College of Environmental Science and Engineering, visited the National Centre for Research of Sudan.

Prof. Migdam E. Abdelgani, General Director of the Centre welcomed Prof. Li. Prof. Abdelgani introduced its research areas includes water treatment, water resource management of Nile River, brick-making technology for construction, reclamation of agriculture waste, etc. As Sudan is facing great challenge on urban waste water treatment, solid waste treatment and recycling, the Centre seeks for cooperation and technology transfer from China. In the afternoon, His Excellency, Minister of Environment, Forest and Physical Development, Mr. Hassan Abdel-Gadir Hilal accepted Prof. Li in his office. He expressed his willing to cooperate with Chinese environmental experts to address environmental technology together in the context of climate change.

Prof. Li also visited Khartoum Soba Wastewater Treatment Plant and Al Manara Drinking Water Plant.

Tongji University has held a training programme for young researchers in the National Centre for Research on Solid Waste treatment. This visit enhanced the mutual understanding and communication, laid the foundation for further and deeper cooperation between Tongji University and the National Centre, and between China and Sudan.
