On 13 November, Prof. Wu Jiang, Vice President of Tongji University met Dr. Jeliu Oumer, Vice President of Addis Ababa University and Mr. Yohannes Fanta   Woldegiorgis, Consulate General of the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia in Shanghai. They first reviewed the previous mutual cooperation, including the China-Africa Water Action Plan sponsored by Ministry of Science and Technology (MoST), the design and development of African Union Conference Center, educational exchange programs and joint research projects, etc., and reached consensus on further strengthening the cooperation on the education, research and south-south cooperation.

Dr. Jeliu Oumer extended his sincere gratitude to Tongji’s consistent and substantial support and shared the updated progress of water treatment demonstration project in Ethiopia which is undertaken by Addis Ababa University, and expressed his determination on carrying out the research on China-Africa heritage conservation and promoting the educational exchange programs and joint research projects.  Mr. Yohannes said Ethiopia is under the way of rapid economic development and hope to extend the cooperation with Tongji University in the field of urban planning, building design and environmental protection, etc.
