On 6 December 2014, Prof. Bahadir Ali Müfit from Technical University Braunschweig, Director of Sustainable Water Management in Developing Countries, Excellence Center for Development Cooperation (EXCEED), and Prof. Haarstrick Andreas, Research Coordinator, EXCEED visited the UNEP-Tongji Institute of Environment for Sustainable Development (IESD). On the meeting , Prof. Bahadir introduced the work of EXCEED in the past 5 years and outlook for the next 5 years work. With much work in common with IESD, there will be more possible cooperation between both sides on co-organizing training program and student exchange program in the future. Prof. Jianhua Li from the College of Environment Science and Engineering presented this meeting and shared the latest achievement on Taihu Lake Ecosystem Research.
EXCEED is one of the 5 Academic platforms supported by the Deutscher Akademischer Austausch Dienst, German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), which focuses on Sustainable Water Management in Developing Countries, providing the technical support to developing countries and regions on the Water Management, Water Chemistry, Water in Agriculture, Water in Costal area and so on. Meanwhile, EXCEED provides support for the student exchange programme, and in 2014, there have been 2 PhD students and 2 Master postgraduates from Tongji University attended the summer school and conference organized by EXCEED.
In addition, Prof. Bahadir will visit Tongji again in the coming year as the Guest Professor to give lecture in Tongji sharing his experience and knowledge with Tongji students.
