On April 1st,2015, “Green City and SustainableDevelopment – Water Resources Management and Water Treatment” workshop wasclosed in Tongji University. 8 participants from 6 African courntries obtainedthe certificates in the closing ceremony.

In the closing ceremony, ProfessorLi Fengting, the vice dean of IESD, firstly expressed his congratulations to allthe exellent participants. Subsequently, he gave a speech on China's urban drinking water treatment technology and process,focusing on the production and application of water treatment chemicals. Mr.Philip Githii Gichuki, the ManagingDirector from Nairobi City Water and Sewerage Co. Ltd reviewed the cooperationbetween Tongji University and hiscompany. And he expressed thanks to Tongji University for capacity building and technologytransfer in drinking watertreatment, sewage treatment and industrial wastewater treatment. Dr. Wang Xin, the vice dean of IESD,gave a speech on the experience of urban planning in Shanghai.

The 10-day workshop (March23rd – April 1st) focused on the water and wastewater treatmenttechnologies. Through a large number of field visitsand case studies, the technicians fromAfrica effectively improved their actualoperation ability, promoting the long-term in-depth cooperation between China and Africa. So far, the Green City and SustainableDevelopment – Water Resources Management and Water Treatment” workshop was concludedsuccessfully.
