Prof. Wu Jiang Selected as an Academician of French Academy of Architecture

     On 16 April 2015, Prof. Wu Jiang, the Vice President of Tongji University and Dean of UNEP-Tongji Institute of Environment for Sustainable Development, was selected as an academician at the academician conference of French Academy of Architecture (Academie d'Architecture). The awarding ceremony will be hosted in due course.

 

     French Academy of Architecture (academie d'architecture), established in 1840, is among the top institutes with a long history for architecture. It is the host to 300 academicians, of which one fifth are from foreign countries. Currently, there are only 3 academicians from China, Mr. Wu Liangyong, Mr. Qi Kang and Mr. Zheng Shiling from Chinese Academy of Science. Prof. Wu Jiang devotes himself to research on the history and theories of modern architecture, the protective utilization of historical buildings in Shanghai, and urban issues in contemporary China and Asian cities. He is the author of "Shanghai Century Architectural History," "Shanghai Alleys", and "Protection of Historical and Cultural Scene Area Planning and Management" among others. His work has earned him the First and Second Prize of National Excellent Planning and Design, the First Prize of Excellent Planning and Design of Shanghai, the First and Second Counseling Prize of Shanghai and the Second Prize of Shanghai Science and Technology Progress, etc.
