Minister Chen Jining Met with UNEA 2 Tongji Delegation

May 26th, the ministerial meeting of the second session of United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-2) in Nairobi, Kenya will be held. Ministers and senior delegates from over 170 countries gathered together at the head quarter of UNEP, discussing global environmental governance and sustainable development. UNEA-2, under the overarching theme of Delivering on the environmental dimension of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, focuses on the challenges of sustainable development facing the world today, as to approve documents to promote global sustainable development.

 

The Minister of Environment protection in China will attend the Ministerial Policy-Review Session, representing Chinese government to give theme announcement and declaring the great achievements on environment protection and sustainable development of Chinese government for the past few years. Meanwhile, China and UNEP will co-host the senior forum——“multiple ways of sustainable development", sharing the thoughts of ecological civilization and green development with other countries. China will also attend the BRICS Ministers of Environmental Non-formal Meeting with Brazil, Russia, India and South Africa to discuss how to deliver the 2030 Sustainable Development Agenda.

Minister Chen Jining came to visit the Ministry of Environment Protection in China and shared insights with the vice presidents of Tongji University, Prof. Wu Jiang, and the vice president of IESD, Prof. Li Fengting. He also gave cordial greetings to Tongji students and encouraged them to keep on studying hard and make their own efforts to human environmental protection.
