Prof.Ying Wang as the research fellow attend the GEO-6 second global authorsmeetings hold by UN Environment at the UN conference center, Bangkok, Thailand fromMay 22 to May 26, 2017. Prof. Ying Wang was selected as research scientist forUN Environment and nominated as the Leading Author for GEO-6 in 2015,participating in the wiring and managing of GEO-6 regional report for Asia andthe Pacific. In 2017, she is selected as research fellow for GEO-6 globalreport and will go through with the global report writing.
TheGlobal Environment Outlook (GEO) is UN Environment’s main assessment of thestate of the global environment, providing environmental trends for air,climate, water, land and biota. TheGlobal Environment Outlook complements other assessments from theIntergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, Intergovernmental Platform onBiodiversity and Ecosystem Services and other UN bodies by demonstrating theinteractions and feedback loops between social, economic and environmentaldrivers, assessing how different policy options may move us to a moresustainable world in the near to longer term.
UN Environmenthas launched the preparation of the sixth edition of the GEO global assessment,responding to UNEA Resolution 1/4, by holding a first authors meeting inFrascati, Italy from February 20-24, 2017. This second authors (May 22-26, 2017in Bangkok, Thailand) meeting will focus on addressing comments from the reviewperiod of the First Order Draft and also allow for extensive progress onpreparation of the Second Order Draft. Author teams will also integrate new experts determined by the analysisof needs for expertise conducted after the Frascati meeting.
