Onthe morning of July 5, 2019, Graduation Ceremony of Graduate Students of Environmentand Sustainable Development College of Tongji University (hereinafter referredto as "IESD") in 2017 was held in the hall of Mingjing Building. Mr.Ha Yu,Director of the Ministry of Commerce Training Center, Li Fengting ExecutiveDeputy Dean of IESD, Vice Dean of College of Environmental Science andEngineering, Deng Huiping, Vice Dean of College of Environmental Science andEngineering, Xu Bin, Vice Dean of College of Environmental Science andEngineering, Liu Jianxiong, Chairman of the Council, College of EnvironmentalScience and Engineering, Qian Xin, Deputy Chairman of the Council, College ofEnvironmental Science and Engineering and the tutors of the international studentsattended the ceremony.

Theceremony was opened with a graduation short film. The happy and fulfilling timewas fixed in these photos. With the replay of the short film, the students werefilled with emotion. First of all,Mr. Ha Yu, Director of the Tendering Department of the Ministry of CommerceTraining Center, introduced the achievements of the International MastersProgram in Environmental Management and Sustainable Development since itsinception, and congratulated the students who received the master's degree. ThenProf. Li Fengting, Executive Deputy Dean of IESD, Vice Dean of College ofEnvironmental Science and Engineering, delivered a speech and spoke highly ofthe achievements of IESD in education over the years. He sent the most sincerewishes to the 2017 classmates and prepared a notebook for each graduate. As agraduation gift, it means that students will start writing a new chapter inlife.

The tutor of the international student,Professor Chen Hongbin, gave a speech and taught the last class for the 2017 internationalstudents. I believe that the students will benefit a lot and will go forward inthe teacher's teachings to contribute their strength to the motherland andsociety. Ms. Fatima-Ezzahra Bennani, a Moroccangraduate of the 2017 International Master of Environmental Science andEngineering Program of Tongji University, made a speech as a studentrepresentative. She recalled that her two-year postgraduate life had beenfruitful. On behalf of all the graduates majoring in science and engineering in2017, she expressed her heartfelt thanks to the Chinese Government, theMinistry of Commerce, leaders and teachers. Withthe support of the United Nations Environment Program, the InternationalStudent Office, the Graduate School and the Logistics Group, 27 internationalstudents successfully completed their two-year studies at Tongji University andsuccessfully passed the defense and graduated smoothly. Inthe past two years, the 2017 graduates have not only learned professionalknowledge, but also learned Chinese culture and gained Chinese skills andcross-border friendship through the international degree program. Inclass meetings, teaching, cooking competitions, New Year's party, outdoorstudy, international student environment and sustainable developmentconference, etc., they showed the charm of their national culture, thedelicious food and their own specialties, and also exercised their ownorganization, coordination and communication skills. TheInternational Degree Program in Environmental Science and Engineering willcontinue to give full play to the advantages of the project. In theinternational multi-disciplinary academic environment, the research ability andcommunication skills of Chinese and international students will be promoted topromote the friendly exchanges between Chinese and international students andachieve win-win cooperation.

Up tonow, the college has enrolled a total of 464 students, with students in 83countries. Since 2006, IESD has launched the“Master's Program in Environmental Management and Sustainable Development”,“International Master of Environmental Engineering Project” and “InternationalDoctoral Program in Environmental Management and Sustainable Development”, aimingat establishing a new international education model in the field of environmentand sustainable development, to train high-level scientific, technological,enterprise and government management personnel for regional and globaldevelopment, especially for developing countries. TheExecutive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme has been invitedto visit Tongji University on many occasions and has made the most cutting-edgereport on the environment in the field. Atthe same time, the college actively organizes international students to carryout various academic salons and cultural and sports activities, so thatinternational students can truly understand Tongji University and understandChinese traditional culture and contemporary China. Notonly that, after completing the first year of the course, internationalstudents have actively participated in many international organizations'internships, international conferences and international short-term trainingactivities with the rich network resources of the college's internationalplatform, laying a solid foundation for future employment. Theinternational education of the college has become a model of Tongji Universityand a banner for international education.
