2011 Klaus Toepfer Environmental Innovation Student Competition
Objectives:
The 2011 Klaus Toepfer Environmental Innovation Student Competition is initiated by German Consulate General Shanghai and UNEP-Tongji Institute of Environment for Sustainable Development (IESD). It is open to all undergraduates and graduates in China’s universities.
It is designed to foster environmental creative thinking, raise awareness of environmental-friendliness and encourage Chinese students to create innovative proposals to contribute to environmental protection.
This competition also receives great support from Prof. Klaus Toepfer, Former Under-Secretary General of United Nations, Former Executive Director of UNEP, and Honorary Professor of Tongji University.
Themes:
The competition focuses on Water Saving Technology and Water Resources Management
Entry Requirements:
The Competition has the following entry requirements:
Ø Student must be currently engaged in undergraduate or graduate study in universities in China
Ø Academic paper, research report or innovative proposal should be related to water saving technology and water resources management
Ø For innovative proposals, participants need to submit the project description, feasibility analysis, project progress, and supported materials to toepfer_iesd@163.com
Ø All materials need to be written in English
Ø Submit the CV description
Ø Good command of English
Selection Criteria: Form a Judging Panel
Ø The originality and innovation of the paper or project
Ø The practicality and feasibility of the project
Ø The ability of demonstration of their credentials
Ø Commitment and enthusiasm for solving environmental issues
Ø Knowledge and understanding of the theme
Ø English competence
Awards and Prizes:
Ø TOP 6 will be bestowed with Certificate by German Consulate General Shanghai and IESD
Ø First Prize: 1 team will be awarded with RMB 10,000 as initial seed to finance the ongoing project
Ø Second Prize: 2 teams will be awarded with RMB 8,000 for each
Ø Third Prize: 3 teams will be awarded with RMB 5,000 for each
