IWA Metals in Drinking Water 5th International Conference

The IWA Specialist Group on Metals and Related Substances in Drinking Water 5th International Conference is to be held in Shanghai, from 6th to 9th , November, 2013. The topic of this conference is “Metals in water – health protection and sustainability through technical innovation”. Water is one of the most precious resources for humans and wildlife. However, metals pollution, especially heavy metals, in water has arisen much concern in China and other countries in the world. The variety and complexity of metals, especially heavy metals, in water concern scientists, economists, policy specialists and stakeholders aiming working together to identify new approaches and solutions to protect human health. This conference will focus on the strategies and technologies for controlling metal pollution and the advanced analytical methods for detecting metal pollution in water and its related media to protect human health. The success of our well attended conferences results from fast growing knowledge and associated needs for information, learning and networking.


The first objective of the conference is to bring together the best international and Chinese experts (scientists, engineers, economists and environmental decision makers) together to discuss and find solutions to modern issues and challenges to metals in water. The second objective is to provide an opportunity to understand the complex and diversified situation of heavy metal pollution in China under great economic development.
