Welcome to Tongji University. During the study period at Tongji University, the international students should abide by Chinese laws as well as Tongji University’s rules and regulations.

I. REGISTRATION

International students are required to register on the date specified by the Admission Letter of Tongji University. Those who are unable to register on time have to request in advance a leave via email, which must be approved by the International Student Office. If the students fail to register within two weeks of the registration date, their registration into the program will be cancelled.

II. PHYSICAL EXAMINATION

International students should receive the Chinese physical examination in China or have the valid certificate of physical examination authenticated in the appointed health Center.

International Student Office of Tongji University will give on the Siping Campus the service of physical examination at the lobby of Zonghe Building on Sept. 9, 12, 19, 20, 21,2013 through Shanghai Entry-Exit Inspection and Quarantine Bureau. The international students who miss this service on the Campus have to book themselves an appointment in the International Travel Healthcare Center on:

• All original physical examination certificates and results from the home country.
• Authentication Fee: 600 RMB

International Students who fail in the authentication of their physical certificates are asked to be re-examined in China. If he/she refuses to take the physical examination or fails in it cannot be accepted as an international student studying in the Chinese university. The relevant expense can’t be returned to the students.

III. RESIDENCE PERMIT

According to the regulations issued by the Shanghai Bureau of Exit –Entry Administration, the international students should apply for a residence permit for legal residence if the study period in China more than six months.

International Student Office of Tongji University will give on the Siping Campus the new international students service of the application for residence permit from the Entry-Exit Administration Bureau on Sept. 2 3and 27,2003-. For those who miss this service should apply for the residence permit by themselves from:

A． Residence Information:

• International students with X visas are required to get the residence permit within 30 days of their entry.
• International students with F visas and with study period more than 6 months are required to get residence permit before the visa expires.
• International students with L visas are required to get the residence permit before the visa expires.

IV. Insurance

According to the regulations of the Chinese Education Ministry, the international students are required to pay 300 RMB per semester for the Chinese comprehensive insurance. Please visit the website: http://www.lxbx.net. for details

V. Accommodation registraion

International students should go to the local police station to apply for the temporary accommodation registration within 24 hours after entering China.

International Students, who want to live off the Tongji Campus, have to get a Record of Living off Campus for Tongji International Students from the International Student Office, and register with it in the local police station. International Students have to get a Temporary Accommodation Registration From in the Tongji International Service Center to live in the Tongji Campus.
