Prof. Ying Wang attends the Seventh Edition of the Global Environment Outlook (GEO-7) Scoping Meeting as Global Vice Chair

The Global Environment Outlook 7 (GEO-7) scoping meeting was held in Nairobi, Kenya, on Oct 17, 2022. Prof. Ying Wang, Vice Dean of IESD and Vice Dean of the College of Environmental Science and Engineering, Tongji University, attended the scoping meeting as the Global Vice Chair. In this regard, this scoping meeting is aimed at developing, reviewing, and approving the scope of GEO-7.

Global Environment Outlook (GEO) is a series of reports on the environment issued periodically by the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP). The GEO report is an authoritative and comprehensive review and analysis of the state of the global environment, covering six regions of the world: Africa, Asia-Pacific, Latin America and the Caribbean, North America, Europe and West Asia, with a wide coverage and far-reaching impact.

Prof. Ying Wang has been coordinating GEO as the Lead Author for Asia-Pacific report since 2017. As Global Vice Chair of GEO-7, Prof. Ying Wang is responsible for determining the overall orientation of GEO in terms of its objectives, functions, design criteria and process; establishing governance and implementation structure for GEO; and requesting the relevant governance and implementation structures to develop procedures, undertake assessments and address needs in capacity building, knowledge generation and policy support. GEO-7 is expected to be completed in February 2025.
