2023 Special Event: Tea Party of Celebrating Chinese New Year

On January 12. 2023, the special event for the celebration of the 2023 Chinese New Year was successfully held in Mingjing Building. 

LYU Peiming, Executive Vice President of Tongji University, XU Bin, Chairman of the Council of the College of Environmental Science and Engineering, WANG Zhiwei, Dean of the College of Environmental Science and Engineering, YAN Changzheng, Deputy Minister of the Academic Research Department of the Council Committee. HUANG Qinghui, LU Lijun ,Deputy Secretary of the Council of the College of Environmental Science and Engineering. WANG Ying, Vice Dean of UNEP-Tongji Institute of Environment for Sustainable Development and Vice Dean of the College of Environmental Science and Engineering, WU Deli, Vice Dean of the College of Environmental Science and Engineering, ZHENG Xiong, Vice Dean of the College of Environmental Science and Engineering. Other staff, and more than 40 representatives of college students on campus which include 14 international students, attended the event.

President LYU Peiming gave a speech and expressed his best wishes for the New Year to everyone. He said that the college would provide good care for all students in all aspects. He emphasized that international students need to take good care of themselves and have a peaceful Spring Festival. 

There are 80 IESD international students celebrating the Chinese New Year on campus this year. Additionally, the college also prepared a New Year's gift for all international students on campus, hoping that they can have a memorable Chinese New Year. Students also sincerely appreciated the university's teachers and staff.

The activity began with the wonderful game. In the part of the song, International students and Chinese students actively participate in guessing the song; the scene is full of an active atmosphere; the part of PK strengthens the understanding of professional knowledge between Chinese and International students.

There were also some traditional Chinese New Year characteristics in the event, such as writing calligraphy couplets and making traditional Chinese lanterns. There were three students from Guinea, Rwanda, and Kurdistan who also prepared an ancient poetry reading called Shui diao ge tou, which captured the feeling of missing relatives in foreign countries. In the end, all the people took a group photo and recorded this beautiful moment together.
