Jiang Huiling, born in October 1963 in Shandong Province, China, is currently the Dean of Tongji University Law School, Director of Shanghai Collaborative Innovation Center of AI Social Governance, and Distinguished Professor. He is also the Vice President of the Judicial Research Society of China Behavior-law Association, the Vice President of the Judicial Institute of the Shanghai Law Society, the Vice President of the Alternative Dispute Resolution Institute of the Shanghai Law Society, the Legislative Expert of the Shanghai Municipal Government, the Advisory and Demonstration Expert of Major Administrative Decisions of Shanghai, the Chairman of the Development Mechanism of Commercial Mediation in China, the Honorary President of the Beijing Association for Alternative Dispute Resolution, the Chairman of the Hengqin International Commercial Mediation Center, and the President of the Shen Jiaben Institute.
Before joining Tongji University as a professor, his Hon. Jiang Huiling served in the Supreme People's Court for 33 years from 1987 to 2020, including 22 years as a senior judge. He positioned as deputy director-general of the Judicial Reform Office, acting President of the National Judges College, and president of China Institute of Applied Jurisprudence, engaged in judicial interpretation, judicial reform, judicial studies, and judicial training. He presided the drafting of four five-year reform programs of the people's courts and helped drafting the central Government’s judicial reform plans. He has undertaken several National research projects, and published dozens of books and papers in the fields of procedural law, judicial system, dispute resolution, and jurisprudence, such as Research on Judicial Independence, Knowledge and Practice of Judicial Reform, The Debate on Courts’ Independence and Judges’ Independence, Several Specific Problems of Establishing the Case Guidance System,On the Transformation of Litigation of Case Request, and etc.
Professor Jiang Huiling graduated from China University of Political Science and Law and University of Montreal, obtained LLB, LLM in administrative law and LLM in public law. He has been a visiting scholar at the National University of Australia and Sydney University Law School (1997), Yale University Law School (2003), and the Institute of Jurisprudence of Academia Sinica.
